Interior Design Project

la sala, the masie, casa decor 2025

At the 60th edition of Casa Decor, Spain’s most influential platform for interior design and lifestyle, I present La Sala, a space that goes beyond aesthetics to express a philosophy of life and design. This project is my invitation to inhabit a place where emotion, calm, and functionality intertwine to create an experience that embraces daily life with authenticity and sensitivity. La Sala is not just interior design; it is a meeting ground where conversations, laughter, silences, and small daily rituals gain meaning. It is the space where living room and dining room merge, not only in their use but in their emotional essence. For me, design reaches its fullest expression in the heart of the home, where life unfolds in all its richness and complexity.

This project stems from the idea of creating a living set, one that is felt more than seen, touched more than displayed. A flexible and sensory environment that does not act as a static backdrop, but as a space that adapts, inviting pause and enjoyment with all the senses. Here, design is a means to enhance experiences, a language that suggests and accompanies rather than imposes or limits. Every element responds to a carefully considered choreography, where materiality, colour, form, and arrangement interact to generate an atmosphere of balanced calm and energy.

White is the silent protagonist, a canvas that captures and amplifies light, offering visual respite and allowing colours to emerge with impact. Against this neutrality, two tones take centre stage with intent: pistachio green, fresh and vibrant, bringing a touch of spontaneity and modernity; and burgundy red, deep and elegant, injecting character and an almost theatrical sensitivity. These colours are not there as decorative whims, but to create a chromatic dialogue that balances intensity with moments of calm, modulating the atmosphere so the space breathes and evolves with its inhabitants.

The pure geometric forms, a signature of the space, move beyond mere functionality to become emotional gestures. Bold volumes, refined lines, and daring curves create an atmosphere where the sculptural coexists with the everyday. Each piece—whether table, seating, or lighting—presents itself as a design object with its own life, meant to be used, lived in, and reinterpreted. They do not just fulfil a practical function, but act as accomplices in the interactions that take place there.

The materials selected reinforce this coherence between aesthetics and sensitivity. We opted for contemporary, sustainable, and innovative textures that provide warmth and authenticity. Beauty does not reside solely in form, but in how that form is perceived, how it feels to the touch, and how it ages over time. The contrast between matte and glossy, smooth and rough, cool and warm surfaces creates a tactile narrative that complements the visual experience, inviting a deep connection that grows in everyday life rather than seeking immediate impact.

Light becomes another fundamental language of the space. It is not about technical illumination, but about accompanying, suggesting, and creating atmospheres that change according to the moment and use. The lighting bathes surfaces delicately, casts shadows that give volume, and guides the eye without forcing it, making the space feel alive and mutable, just like life itself.

Every corner of La Sala is designed to facilitate encounters, exchanges, and togetherness. There are no hierarchies between the living and dining areas; both intertwine, overlap, and enrich each other. This flow reflects the naturalness of human relationships: conversations that linger, meals that extend, moments of pause, and unexpected encounters. In this space, the furniture is not just objects, but active participants in this vital staging. They provide support, but also evoke; they hold bodies, but also stories and silences. They are forms that create place.
The project is enriched by collaborations that add additional layers of meaning. For example, a wall covering made from recycled towels, which provides texture and warmth, but also reflects a commitment to sustainability and the circular economy. Reuse is not a detail; it is part of the soul of the project. The wood, carefully treated to enhance its natural beauty, becomes a testament to the passage of time, a presence that brings history and authenticity. The versatile pieces that connect interior and exterior allow the boundaries between the two to blur, creating a fluid and natural transition that invites living without barriers. And the porcelain flooring, with its understated and elegant finish, acts as a silent backdrop that supports and reinforces the identity of the whole without competing for attention.
La Sala is not a static space, but a livable experience that seeks to reconcile functionality and expression. A place that embraces real life, with its imperfections, moments of calm, and bursts of energy, while at the same time elevating and dignifying it. It is not a repeated formula, but a gesture of trust in design as a cultural and emotional tool that transforms and enriches.

In times when design often seeks fleeting spectacle, this project opts for a quiet and meaningful beauty—one that accompanies without overwhelming, invites without imposing, and relies on emotion rather than fashion. It speaks to how we want to live and relate to our surroundings and to others. It reminds us that a home is not just a physical space, but a stage for life, a refuge for emotions, a place to share and grow.

This is my way of seeing, thinking, and feeling design: as both an intimate and collective act, a way of inhabiting that recognises material, detail, light, and gesture, but also shared words, paused time, and the pleasure of simplicity. La Sala is not just a space; it is an invitation to rediscover the transformative power of design when it serves the essential and the everyday.
