residence coctel de color

White, turquoise and bougainvillea; a little ice and well shaken. That is the recipe that defines this house in Altea, a place where the sea and light inspire every corner. When I arrive, what interests me most is that the space breathes, that there are no rigid limits but a continuity that allows the home to be lived in with freedom, joy and that touch of elegance that I always seek. Pure white acts as a blank canvas on which the whole house unfolds, like a luminous breath of fresh air that gives way to touches of colour that excite and surprise without being garish. Freshness is the protagonist, but with a warmth that invites you to stay.

On the floor, continuous Pergo flooring provides a warm texture and a feeling of comfort underfoot, as if the house were breathing with every step. The Orac Decor skirting board, with its subtle yet defined presence, becomes the perfect frame for the domestic scene we are creating: elegant and contemporary, without losing its roots or becoming cold.

The living room is a space to inhabit with open senses. Pierre Frey’s Arty wallpaper, with the pictorial energy of Marie-Cécile Aptel, is the piece that gives this room its soul. It is not just a covering, it is an invitation to look beyond, to let yourself be enveloped by a visual narrative that vibrates with Mediterranean light. Against this intense backdrop, the Raglán Home sofa, with its refined sobriety, balances the scene. The electric blue cushions radiate a spark of vitality, an unexpected nod that catches the eye.

The Wassily armchairs, with their iconic structure and restored white leather, bring a unique character, a history that coexists with the present. They are not just seats; they are pieces that dialogue with time, adding a cultural and emotional dimension. The Ptolomeo bookcase, the Cambio coffee table and the Iris side tables, all carefully selected, work together to make the scene feel natural, uncontrived and sophisticated at the same time.

Lighting is a key element that can create or destroy an atmosphere. Arne Jacobsen’s AJ lamp and Verner Panton’s coral-coloured Panthella 250 are not just simple light fixtures: they are sculptures that transform the energy of a space, creating areas of intimacy and dynamism. The Tomol rug adds a subtle texture, like a whisper underfoot, and Jaime Hayon’s Embraced figure for Lladró provides an emotional touch, a contemplative pause that connects with the soul of the home.

Moving into the dining room is to discover another rhythm, another language. The Cambio table with a Helena ceramic top becomes an altar for conviviality, a meeting point that invites daily celebration. Patricia Urquiola’s Oru chairs in stained wood and black fabric bring lightness and chromatic continuity, while the black and yellow Musta rugs add subtle energy and sophistication with character.

The Danil console table, with its metal frame and tiled base, is a piece that adds strength and reinforces the graphic character of the dining room. Here, art takes centre stage with Manolo Puig’s mixed media work on burlap, which brings an emotional connection to Altea, its history and its land to the project. On the table, decorative objects such as the Parrot Party and Poul Henningsen’s PH5 lamp add a touch of humour and sensitivity, because the home is also a game, an experience.

The kitchen is a space that celebrates the sea and its landscapes. Stripes and emerald green fill the room with energy and movement, like a visual dance that connects with the nearby beaches. The furniture by Berloni Italia becomes the perfect container for this story: clean, functional and without artifice. The black stools from the Oru collection, repeating an element from the dining room, reinforce the coherence and the feeling of a lived-in home. The Betta fish sculpture by Lladró, like a dreamlike nod, introduces a poetic dimension that goes beyond the functional.

In the sitting room, the most intimate corner, I propose a bench designed by me, upholstered with fabric from Ka Internacional that adds texture and warmth. The photograph by Elton Rocha accompanies this space, providing a poetic, almost narrative look. The Kaif bookcase and Iris side table, with their light industrial aesthetic, provide balance, while the Tab F lamp designed for Flos introduces a touch of technical and contemporary sophistication.

The guest bedroom is an ode to Mediterranean light. Every ray of sunlight that enters seems to caress the headboard upholstered in vibrant yellow with Tribu fabric from Ka International. It is a gesture of colour that illuminates without overwhelming, bringing both life and calm. Konstantin Grcic’s Ok lamps, with their clean lines, provide a sculptural counterpoint that balances the composition.

In the master bedroom, the mustard velvet headboard transforms the room into a warm and welcoming retreat. The cushions from the Artís collection and the white lacquered side tables, designed by me, add the delicate details that make the space unique. Mario Bellini’s Chiara Table lamps provide soft lighting, creating an atmosphere that invites rest and relaxation.

Finally, the bathroom, designed entirely with elements from Grupo Porcelanosa, is the culmination of this home. Here, you can feel the same consistency, the same search for comfort and beauty without ostentation that characterises the entire project. Each piece is designed to make the user feel that they are in a space where design dialogues with experience and where every detail is a gesture of care.

Overall, this house in Altea is not just a place to live. It is a narrative of light, colour and emotion that invites you to live in the present with intensity, with calm, with that balance that makes every day a new experience. It is a cocktail that mixes the freshness of the sea with the warmth of home, a space for daydreaming and celebrating life in every moment.
